what are some fields of science for this article below?

Question by bbilly bob: what are some fields of science for this article below?
Google Inc.’s YouTube said Thursday it is vastly expanding its library of full-length movies and TV shows it offers online, while also launching a new advertising service and adding about a twelve new content partners. The long-form videos will be housed on an unique page at http://www.youtube.com/shows and get a “Shows” tab on the main YouTube site. The offering, which go unrecorded late Thursday, marks a further departure from the fuzzy homemade clips that made the Web site popular and is the latest move in YouTube’s attempt to boost sales and profits.Last week, YouTube announced it was teaming up with Universal Music Group to create an online music video venture.”It’s a first step in a long commitment,” said Shiva Rajaraman, a YouTube senior product manager, in a conference call with reporters. The company hopes to add to its movie and show content over time. The titles available at launch are mostly older fare that are already available elsewhere on the Web.It will offer for free hundreds of TV show titles including “Beverly Hillbillies” and “Married With Children,” and hundreds of movies, including “Casino Royale” and “Cliffhanger.”The service expands on YouTube’s existing partnership with several studios, whose parents include Sony Corp., Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., CBS Corp., Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Liberty Media Corp.On Thursday it also proclaimed new partnerships with 13 smaller companies such as Discovery Communications Inc., National Geographic and SnagFilms LLC.Advertising revenue will be shared with the content providers. The news came on the same day Mountain View-based Google said it earned $ 1.42 billion, or $ 4.49 per share, in the first quarter, up 9 percent from a year ago.Google bought YouTube for $ 1.76 billion in late 2006 but it hasn’t emerged as a studying marketing vehicle and the company does not disclose its revenue figures. Analysts have estimated its revenue in 2008 at around $ 200 million. On Thursday, YouTube spokesman Chris Dale simply said a recent analyst estimate that said the placed lost $ 500 million a year was “factually incorrect” and said its performance was better. As a way to bolster its ad revenue, YouTube also announced it is launching Google TV Ads Online, which will help advertisers target viewers of online content with video ads.Single video ads are planned to be inserted in scheduled breaks in shows and movies, Rajaraman said. Sometimes the ads will be sold by Google and sometimes by the content providers.Certain content providers also provide their own video players, such as Sony’s Crackle.com player, which will be embedded in the YouTube site.Crackle.com has 60 movies on its site, but will be offering only 15 at time through the partnership. For example, “Groundhog Day,” initially will not be shared, as Sony managers intend to use YouTube’s large audience to help drive traffic to Crackle.com.

Know Your Audience and Participants to Conduct A Successful Web Conference

It’s no underground that anyone seeking to conduct a successful web conference should know who is listening on the other end. Knowing your audience gives you the ability to tailor your presentation to each participant’s unparalleled needs, doing it much more efficacious. That being told, there are a few distinctive “types” of attendees you’ll probable emanate across at one point or another during your web conferences, and they comprise:

“Hot” prospective customers – the reason so many web conferences are held in the first place. While it’s true any type of attendee can become a prospective customer, these are the ones that come to the table ready to go. You can spot this type fairly easily: they actively participate in discussions as well as any surveys or polls you include in the presentation. The key to engaging this type of participant is not in the frills – just deliver exactly what you promised. Hot prospective customers come into your meeting prepared for whatever it is you are presenting, so delivering an engaging, well-balanced presentation with timely follow up will ensure you the best chances of turning that prospect into your newest customer. The creepers – these types make their way onto multiple mailing lists in one way or another and could possibly even attend your encounter regularly. However, while they may habitually attend your meet and likely have a good reason for being there, they generally won’t saw. These typewrite of meeting-goers typically include researchers, possible competitors, insiders in the industry, etc. Most hosts are hesitant to engage this typewrite of attendee and write them off early because they are less likely to become a sale. However, we suggest giving them a direct shout-retired during the conference to increase the odds of their participation. For example, prior to the start of your meeting mention the topics/products you are covering, and if there are any researchers in the audience be sure to list a few of your resources for them to check out independently. The no-shows – these are the ones that accepted your meeting invite, said they’d be there, and when the day finally came they failed to show up. While this might leave you hesitant to share information with them after the fact, it is important to keep in mind that they may have missed your meeting for a very legitimate reason (i.e. illness, family emergency, etc). The best and easiest way to handle these participants is to make your conference and related materials available – whether online or via email – to all attendees at the conclusion of your conference. This will allow the ones who missed it a chance to hear and view the same information, and give those who were able to attend the ability to review the materials again. The just-the-facts-folks – these types of attendees are strictly business. They have accepted your meeting invite for a specific reason and want you to deliver just that – no more, no less. The best way to address this type of attendee is to deliver exactly what you outline at the start of your meeting. Also, having materials available after the conclusion of your meeting that they can view at their convenience is helpful as well.

The Secrets to a Successful Web Conference

A web conference is one of the most knock-down solutions a business can have at its disposal, so it is indispensable to do each single conference numerate to ensure the better return on your investment. That being stated, hither are a few key tips on how to do your web conferencing a more rewarding experience for both you and your participants:

Make it as user-friendly as possible – the easier it is for your participants to attend and join in the collaboration, the more likely they will be to return and participate in your subsequent conferences. Select a provider that offers Outlook integration and a comprehensive list of easy-to-use features and interface

Lighten the load – on your computer that is; shut off any unnecessary programs that are running that could be consuming your bandwidth; these could potentially cause hang-ups, lags, and other service disruptions (plus it will help you stay focused on the subject matter) ]]>

If your web conference involves more than a handful of people, turn the sound prompts off. While it might not be bothersome to hear them every once in a while, in a meeting with hundreds – or even thousands – of participants, hearing an alert each time someone enters or exits the conference tin become very distracting, if not annoying

If you can avoid it, wear’t go wireless – utilizing a wired connection will increase your odds of a smoother meeting, and lessens the chance of a lost signal, which can be disruptive to a web conference and leave you unable to pick up where you endured left offTurn off your call waiting – do not assume you’re the only one who can hear that beep from the caller on the other line, your attendees can too. Avoiding these small miss-haps that chip away at your performance will keep all participants focused, and improve your professional appearance

Avoid placing your line on hold – unless you know your audience loves your “on-hold” music selection, it’s best to steer clear of pushing that button. If it is absolutely necessary, consider customizing your music selections to entertain your participants while they wait rather than put them to sleep with the same old elevator music

And lastly, mute your participant’s lines – especially when conferencing with large numbers of attendees. At the beginning of your conference, announce that you will be placing all lines on hold to eliminate any unwanted background noise and that you will be addressing any questions or comments at a specified time either during an intermission or at the end of your meeting

The Executive Committee plans to meet on June 7 at two o’clock in Conference room A to develop a strategic plan for implementing technology changes. As we might of expected, it recomends extensive changes. To slow and nonexistent sufficient memory, the report states that our 486’s cannot meet our projected processing and storage needs. It also points out the that computers cannot run the newer (8.) version of our office suite. Ms. Price thinks we should replace it with Pentium IV computers with 256 MB or RAM, 40-GHz hard drives, and nineteen” monitors. She also proposes that we upgrade our office suite and invest in top of the line Firewall and Virus Protection Software. In addition Ms. Price suggests switching to broadband Internet connections. The report also analyzes our data storage and and file-sharing problems. According to Ms Price a NAS (network attached storage server is the answer. On Page 8 of the report, she says “a NAS server will plug into your network easy. It will appear in users desktops as an extra drive.A NAS server can back up any type file, and can offer you’re employees quick easy and secure access to shared files.” Ms. Price adds that NAS servers are cost-effective, and can be upgraded easily to meet our data storage and file-sharing needs. The cost of all these improvements are 27% higher than anticipated. If we except Ms. Price’s advise, our Long Range Budget committee will have to determine the affect these expeinditures will have on our budget before we precede. This upgraded technology will sure save our empoyees a grate deal of time and make them even more productive. We must compliment our investment in hardware and software with an investment in our personal. We have invited 4 companies to submit proposals to provide us with Web based training materials.
