What is your opinion Fort Hood Gunman a Hero, Says Islamic Cleric With Suspected 9/11 Links?

Question by Maricopa County: What is your opinion Fort Hood Gunman a Hero, Says Islamic Cleric With Suspected 9/11 Links?
CNSNews.com) – The Muslim U.S. Army major incriminated of hitting beat 13 people at Fort Hood last Thursday was a “hero” who faced a choice of betraying his nation or betraying Islam, according to a radical U.S.-born cleric whose possible links with Maj. Nidal Hasan are now below investigation. The cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki, led a Northern Virginia mosque in 2001 which Hasan attended – along with three of the 9/11 hijackers.Questioned but not arrested after the 9/11 attacks, al-Awlaki is now based in Yemen, from where his online lectures have been inspiring jihadists in the years since the bombings on U.S. soil.London’s Sunday Telegraph first reported at the weekend that Hasan had attended the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church during Awlaki’s tenure in 2001. Officials subsequently told U.S. media outlets investigators were looking into possible links between Awlaki and Hasan. In a posting on his Web site Monday, Awlaki praised Hasan, named him “a man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his possessing people.”He criticized U.S. Muslim organizations for condemning the shooting attack, naming them hypocrites and – quoting from the Koran – saying “painful punishment” awaited them.“Nidal open fire on soldiers who were on their way to be deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan,” Awlaki said. “How can there be any dispute about the virtue of what he has done?”“In fact the only way a Muslim could Islamically justify serving as a soldier in the U.S. army is if his intention is to follow the footsteps of men like Nidal.”Awlaki’s notice and reports of possible link between him and Hasan come amid ongoing speculation and debate about the motive for last Thursday’s deadly shooting. Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, was shot by police during the rampage and is in hospital.Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), who chairs the Senate Homeland Security committee, told Fox News Sunday that “there are very, very strong warning signs here that Dr. Hasan had become an Islamist extremist and, therefore, that this was a terrorist act.http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/56844We still don’t know what was behind the killings at Ft. Hood this afternoon, in which 11 soldiers and the killer died, but President Obama’s rushed press conference was surprising in its flippancy nonetheless. Before he got to the issue on everyone’s mind –namely the deaths of Americans in uniform — the president gave a “shout-out” to government bureaucrats gathered for a previously scheduled conference at the Interior Department, complete with appreciative chuckles. Why is the gop trying to do block michigan voters?

Question by tredd: Why is the gop trying to do block michigan voters?
Democrats Sue Michigan G.O.P. on Voter IssueBy Michael FalconeUpdated Responding to allegations that Republican Party officials in Macomb County, Michigan plan to use home foreclosure lists to challenge voters at the polls in November, the Obama Campaign and the Democratic National Committee filed a lawsuit on Tuesday in federal court to prevent what they contended was an illegal practice.Obama Campaign General Counsel Bob Bauer said that using home foreclosure lists as a basis for challenging voter eligibility would have a “deathly effect of the voting process” and reasoned that the practice would be illegal.“This is a received operating procedure within the Republican party that’s been under effectual challenge,” Mr. Bauer said on a conference call with reporters on Tuesday.Last week the chairman of the G.O.P. in Macomb County, James Carabelli, was quoted in the online publican, the Michigan Messenger, as saying that the party planned to use foreclosure lists to stop voters who no longer have valid addresses from casting their ballots.“We will have a list of foreclosed homed and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses,” Mr. Carabelli was quoted as stated, according to a Sept. 10 article in the Michigan Messenger.Since the story first appeared, Mr. Carabelli has repeatedly denied that the party planned to use the lists, and in an interview with The New York Times suggested that he was misquoted.“I have no voter challenging program here in my county,” Mr. Carabelli said late last week. And in a statement on the Michigan G.O.P. Web site the chairman of the Michigan Republican Party Saul Anuzis called the story “a complete fabrication.”“There has never been a plan to use foreclosure lists to challenge voters. There is no such plan, and there never will be such a plan. Period,” Mr. Anuzis said.Mr. Anuzis repeated those assertions on a conference named today and said that the Republicans would formally enquired the Messenger for a retraction. Absent that, he said, the G.O.P. would prosecuted a libel lawsuit against the publication.According to a statement on its Web site, Messenger editors appeared to be resisting calls for a retraction.“There will be no retraction because Mr. Carabelli and Mr. Anuzis’ claims are unfounded. The quotes were not fabricated. Michigan Messenger and the Center for Independent Media stand behind this story hundred percent.”Mr. Anuzis characterized the Democrats’ legal action a “stunt.”“It clearly shows their desperation as they move forward,” he said. But the Obama campaign counter that the denials amounted to “backpedaling” on the part of the Michigan G.O.P., and said that they had enough evidence to go forward with the lawsuit.“Our position is very simply, they can tell it to the judge,” Mr. Bauer said.A copy the Obama campaign’s complaint, which was filed on Tuesday in United States District Court in Eastern Michigan, is available here.http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/16/obama-campaign-files-lawsuit-against-republicans-in-michigan/

Denver Nuggets and WWE, What Do You Think?

Question by RTH23: Denver Nuggets and WWE, What Do You Think?
In the “I have no faith in my team” award, E. Stanley Kroenke and Kroenke Sports, the owners of the Denver Nuggets win hands down by scheduling a WWE wrestling match on the same day that Denver plays the Lakers at home. WWE scheduled a Monday Night Raw for May 25th last August and signed the papers on April 15, 2009. The event will be sold-out. Vince McMahon has said he will bring his trucks to Denver. As of Monday afternoon, the schedule on the Pepsi Center’s Web placed listed WWE for 6:30 p.m. local time and Western Conference finals Game 4 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the wrestling event could still be purchased online. What should one do? How about having a main event wrestling match between the Denver Nugget’s and the WWE. At Center for the Nugget’s Nene (6-11/250) vs WWE’s The Big Show (7-/450) At Forward for the Nugget’s Carmelo Anthony (6-8/230) vs WWE’s Kane (7-/335) At Forward for the Nugget’s Kenyon Martin (6-9/240) vs WWE’s Batista (6-6/290) At Guard for the Nugget’s Chauncey Billups (6-3/202) vs WWE’s Randy Orton (6-4/245) At Guard for the Nugget’s Dahntay Jones ( 6-6/210) vs WWE’s John Cena (6-1/240) With WWE booking this event, it could go downward as the all-time attendance record for any dwell event. Who do you consider will romp?

Q&A: How would you feel if this happened in your city, county or state with illegal immigrants?

Question by new name: How would you feel if this happened in your city, county or state with illegal immigrants?
Mo. town outraged over killings, illegal immigranthttp://www.magicvalley.com/articles/2009/03/20/ap/us/d971tl300.txtBy JIM SALTERHANNIBAL, Mo. – A Hannibal police officer was finishing up mundane paperwork on a quiet Saturday morning when Manuel Cazares walked into the station, daubed splattered on his hands and shoes.Cazares put his hands discovered, crossed them, and told the officer to arrest him.”I killed two people,” he allegedly said.Details surrounding the allegations are far too common: an abusive relationship, a jilted lover, a sudden attack. But some in this Mississippi River community of 17,000 trumped known as Mark Twain’s hometown aren’t just outraged by the violence. They also question why Cazares was in Hannibal at all.Cazares admitted after his arrest that he is an illegal immigrant from the Mexican state of Michoacan. The 32-year-old had several run-ins with law enforcement before the homicides, but officials had never questioned his legal status. Now he is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Feb. 28 deaths of his ex-girlfriend, 27-year-old Amanda Thomas, and 25-year-old Carl Patrick Epley.”I don’t know how this happed,” said Tina White-Masengill, Thomas’ sister. “My stepdad told police many times, ‘I don’t flush think the guy’s a legal citizen.’”During his three years in Hannibal, Cazares managed to avoid detection, despite a few traffic violations and a property damage conviction after an arrest for allegedly beating up Thomas and tearing up her home. Thomas had a restraining order against Cazares, who got probation in the property-damage case.Police say his name wasn’t in a database maintained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Police and Cazares’ boss also say he had authentic-looking identification, including a Social Security card. And police noted that Cazares speaks smooth English.Cazares’ attorney did not return phone messages seeking comment. Cazares is being held in lieu of $ 1 million bond.Hannibal police declined several interview requests from The Associated Press, but said soon after the killing that they had received various angry calls, some with racial overtones.Days after the killings, rocks were thrown through plate-glass windows at the Mexican restaurant where Cazares worked. The FBI decided against opening a hate-crime investigation after concluding that it was vandalism, not retaliation.Hundreds of messages related to the case were posted on the Hannibal Courier-Post Web site, with several questioning why authorities hadn’t been able to determine Cazares’ legal status before. One suggested police should conduct raids to seek out early illegal immigrants.”Of course we have folks who say that’s unconstitutional and racial profiling so we have to ignore the problem until this sort of terrible tragedy takes place,” the post read. The newspaper eventually took down the postings. At a news conference, police Capt. James Hark told reporters that tracking illegal immigrants is a federal responsibility. He said the department is sympathetic to the victims’ families, “but, in retrospect, there’s nothing in the system that would have prevented this from happening.”ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok said the agency seeks to work closely with local police to uncover illegal immigrants.”When local law enforcement suspect that they have arrested an illegal alien on criminal charges, we encourage them to forward those suspicions to ICE, where we will make the appropriate determination whether that person is in the country legally or illegally, and whether he is deportable,” Rusnok said. The relationship between Cazares and Thomas had long been rocky, with Thomas seeking restraining orders in 2007 and again early last year. Marion County prosecutor Tom Redington said the first order was dismissed when Thomas failed to appear at a court hearing; the second was dismissed at her request.Thomas made a third attempt around Thanksgiving and obtained a restraining order that was supposed to keep Cazares away from the small brick duplex where she lived with their 20-month-old son and a 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.Yet neighbors said they often saw Cazares in the area.”We pulled up one night and he drives up the street with his car light off and just sits there watching her admitted,” said neighbor Charles Thomas, who is not related to the victim. In early February, Thomas told police she thought Cazares was stalking her. White-Masengill said her sister played cell phone messages for police, including one in which he said, “No one can love you like I do.”Redington said he didn’t have Cazares arrested immediately because of the “on-again, away-again nature of their relationship.” He asked Thomas to obtain records that would show that Cazares had been calling her, but she never got the records.According to court records, Cazares offered the following a

This kind of thing happens fairly often in California. In fact, I live in the Napa Valley where we have a very large population of illegals picking the grapes. My town alone has a population of 40% Mexican and many of them are here lawlessly. One winery out of over 300 hither will hire only legal Mexicans. The rest hire whoever they can get. So, swear me, I know and see exactly what your talking about. BTW, your question is a little long and the last sentence should be removed since it is incomplete.

Question by bbilly bob: what are some fields of science for this article below?
Google Inc.’s YouTube said Thursday it is vastly expanding its library of full-length movies and TV shows it offers online, while also launching a new advertising service and adding about a twelve new content partners. The long-form videos will be housed on an unique page at http://www.youtube.com/shows and get a “Shows” tab on the main YouTube site. The offering, which go unrecorded late Thursday, marks a further departure from the fuzzy homemade clips that made the Web site popular and is the latest move in YouTube’s attempt to boost sales and profits.Last week, YouTube announced it was teaming up with Universal Music Group to create an online music video venture.”It’s a first step in a long commitment,” said Shiva Rajaraman, a YouTube senior product manager, in a conference call with reporters. The company hopes to add to its movie and show content over time. The titles available at launch are mostly older fare that are already available elsewhere on the Web.It will offer for free hundreds of TV show titles including “Beverly Hillbillies” and “Married With Children,” and hundreds of movies, including “Casino Royale” and “Cliffhanger.”The service expands on YouTube’s existing partnership with several studios, whose parents include Sony Corp., Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., CBS Corp., Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Liberty Media Corp.On Thursday it also proclaimed new partnerships with 13 smaller companies such as Discovery Communications Inc., National Geographic and SnagFilms LLC.Advertising revenue will be shared with the content providers. The news came on the same day Mountain View-based Google said it earned $ 1.42 billion, or $ 4.49 per share, in the first quarter, up 9 percent from a year ago.Google bought YouTube for $ 1.76 billion in late 2006 but it hasn’t emerged as a studying marketing vehicle and the company does not disclose its revenue figures. Analysts have estimated its revenue in 2008 at around $ 200 million. On Thursday, YouTube spokesman Chris Dale simply said a recent analyst estimate that said the placed lost $ 500 million a year was “factually incorrect” and said its performance was better. As a way to bolster its ad revenue, YouTube also announced it is launching Google TV Ads Online, which will help advertisers target viewers of online content with video ads.Single video ads are planned to be inserted in scheduled breaks in shows and movies, Rajaraman said. Sometimes the ads will be sold by Google and sometimes by the content providers.Certain content providers also provide their own video players, such as Sony’s Crackle.com player, which will be embedded in the YouTube site.Crackle.com has 60 movies on its site, but will be offering only 15 at time through the partnership. For example, “Groundhog Day,” initially will not be shared, as Sony managers intend to use YouTube’s large audience to help drive traffic to Crackle.com.

Know Your Audience and Participants to Conduct A Successful Web Conference

It’s no underground that anyone seeking to conduct a successful web conference should know who is listening on the other end. Knowing your audience gives you the ability to tailor your presentation to each participant’s unparalleled needs, doing it much more efficacious. That being told, there are a few distinctive “types” of attendees you’ll probable emanate across at one point or another during your web conferences, and they comprise:

“Hot” prospective customers – the reason so many web conferences are held in the first place. While it’s true any type of attendee can become a prospective customer, these are the ones that come to the table ready to go. You can spot this type fairly easily: they actively participate in discussions as well as any surveys or polls you include in the presentation. The key to engaging this type of participant is not in the frills – just deliver exactly what you promised. Hot prospective customers come into your meeting prepared for whatever it is you are presenting, so delivering an engaging, well-balanced presentation with timely follow up will ensure you the best chances of turning that prospect into your newest customer. The creepers – these types make their way onto multiple mailing lists in one way or another and could possibly even attend your encounter regularly. However, while they may habitually attend your meet and likely have a good reason for being there, they generally won’t saw. These typewrite of meeting-goers typically include researchers, possible competitors, insiders in the industry, etc. Most hosts are hesitant to engage this typewrite of attendee and write them off early because they are less likely to become a sale. However, we suggest giving them a direct shout-retired during the conference to increase the odds of their participation. For example, prior to the start of your meeting mention the topics/products you are covering, and if there are any researchers in the audience be sure to list a few of your resources for them to check out independently. The no-shows – these are the ones that accepted your meeting invite, said they’d be there, and when the day finally came they failed to show up. While this might leave you hesitant to share information with them after the fact, it is important to keep in mind that they may have missed your meeting for a very legitimate reason (i.e. illness, family emergency, etc). The best and easiest way to handle these participants is to make your conference and related materials available – whether online or via email – to all attendees at the conclusion of your conference. This will allow the ones who missed it a chance to hear and view the same information, and give those who were able to attend the ability to review the materials again. The just-the-facts-folks – these types of attendees are strictly business. They have accepted your meeting invite for a specific reason and want you to deliver just that – no more, no less. The best way to address this type of attendee is to deliver exactly what you outline at the start of your meeting. Also, having materials available after the conclusion of your meeting that they can view at their convenience is helpful as well.
